Find out all you need to know about our inspiring visits

To find out about our school visits please visit the Schools page. You can also complete the contact form below or call us on 0121 472 0199 to have a chat with our Education Team. Below you will find all the practical details for a school visit to Selly Manor Museum and how to book.

Numbers

We can accommodate a maximum of 90 children per day. Depending on the number you bring, the group will be split into 2 or 3 smaller groups. Each of these smaller groups will be led by a member of our Education Team for the day.

Schools should bring a minimum of 1 adult for every 10 children. We will advise specific numbers of adults when you book. We rely on the willingness of class teachers and helpers to ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable. School staff are responsible for student behaviour and first aid provision throughout the visit.

Lunch Arrangements + Gift Shop

Please bring a packed lunch which can be eaten in our medieval hall or the lovely Tudor garden. We do have a gift shop on site and pre-prepared gift bags can also be purchased in advance.

Toilets

We have plenty of toilets on site but if you bring a large number of children we will stagger the times classes use the facilities. Visiting school children must be accompanied by a member of staff from the school when using the facilities.

Timings

A typical day to Selly Manor Museum runs from 10am – 2pm, although we are able to offer flexibility on times that suit your group. If school groups wish to stay at the museum after 2pm we are happy for you to carry out teacher-led activities, please mention this when booking.

Resource Pack, Risk Assessment & Pre-Visit

A resource pack and risk assessment will be sent out to all booked and confirmed groups. Please be aware that our risk assessment is site specific and may not address all the needs of your particular group. Teachers are welcome to come on a free pre-visit to carry out their own risk assessment and discuss their needs, which can be arranged either during or after normal school hours.
