The Rest House Update

Share
Thank you to everyone that visited the Rest House for our Museum of Us Exhibition, which celebrated 125 years of Bournville Village Trust. We welcomed over 2000 people over the 4 weeks of opening, and it was great to speak to so many people who hold such important connections to Bournville.
The Rest House returned to the management of Bournville Village Trust in June 2025 and is being overseen by the Heritage Team, who also manage Selly Manor Museum. We have learnt a great deal over recent months, and listened to feedback from those that have visited, as we plan for the future of the building. Thank you to everyone that supported the opening of the Rest House, and especially our new team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.
We will now be taking some time to plan for the future of the Rest House. Our intention is that the building will become a permanent heritage centre that serves both the local community, and visitors to Bournville to learn about, and celebrate, this very special place. We will also be using the Rest House as part of our award-winning school’s education programme, and local community events.
The Heritage Team will now be working on plans for the Rest House for the remainder of this year. This will involve exploring funding options, event programmes and a timetable for the Rest House’s permanent reopening. We will provide an update on those plans in early 2026.
During this time the Rest House will be closed but we look forward to an exciting new future for this iconic Bournville building. If you would like to get in touch, please contact the BVT Heritage Team:
