The Rest House

The Rest House

Last month, Bournville Village Trust shared an update about the Rest House visitor centre, which sits in the centre of Bournville Green. Until recently, the Rest House has been managed by charity the Friends of Bournville Carillon (FoBC).

In March, the FoBC took the decision to dissolve the charity following an increase in operational and financial demands. This meant the management of the Rest House was handed back to Bournville Village Trust (BVT).

We are continuing to work closely with representatives from the FoBC as the handover process takes place and we share a joint commitment to making sure the Rest House continues to benefit the community.

Daniel Callicott, Heritage Manager at BVT, said: “The Rest House has a wonderful heritage, being presented to George and Elizabeth Cadbury in 1914 as a gift to mark their silver wedding anniversary, and we know it is treasured and loved by many people. This is why we are excited to share that the Rest House will continue to benefit the community as a public heritage centre to celebrate Bournville. It will soon be featuring in events to celebrate our 125th anniversary of BVT and we will be sharing more information on this soon.”

The Rest House will remain temporarily closed whilst the handover process takes place. The Bournville Carillon itself will continue to be maintained and played, and we will continue to support the Carillon.
