Volunteer at Selly Manor Museum
Share
Volunteers can bring valuable skills and experiences to the work of Selly Manor, and help staff to deliver our services. We love working with enthusiastic people who are passionate about heritage and value the role that Selly Manor Museum plays in the community.
We would like to recruit volunteers to help us deliver our events and to support museum staff at weekends in the spring and summer. If you are interested, you can find all about Volunteering at Selly Manor Museum here, including a description of what is involved and an application form.
So why should you volunteer at Selly Manor? Well, we think there are lots of reasons including making new friends, developing new skills, experiencing work in the heritage and museum sector, giving something back to the community, spending time in a beautiful and inspirational place and of course having lots fun too. Whatever your reasons, our team are there to help you get the best out of the opportunities available.
If you would like to join the team then you can contact us by completing the enquiry form at the base of this page, or by calling us on 0121 472 0199. We try to tailor volunteering roles to make the most of your skills whilst pursuing your own interests. Selly Manor Museum is a special place and it is the people who visit, volunteer and work here that make it even better.
What is a typical day volunteering at Selly Manor Museum like?
No two days are the same volunteering at Selly Manor! At weekends we welcome visitors to the museum and share the rich history of the buildings and collection. Volunteers help us to make our visitors day enjoyable with a friendly smile, and serving at our ticket desk and gift shop. We often serve refreshments and it takes lots of care looking after the site and keeping it clean and well maintained.
We have a whole host of events take place each year, from heritage talks and exhibitions to family fun days and craft activities. We need help to ensure this all runs smoothly.
When can I volunteer?
We need most help at weekends, particularly from June to September when we have lots taking place, but at other times too, including evenings. We ask that people volunteer at least once a month but we're always flexible as we recognise people might have lots of other commitments. We produce a monthly rota and circulate available shifts the month beforehand.
What sort of training will I get?
You'll always be working alongside our knowledge and friendly staff, and often with other volunteers too. We will give you an on site induction to make sure you are comfortable before you start.
What do I do next?
