A chilling triumph, The Witch is an A24 folk horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, Nosferatu) starring a young Anya Taylor Joy.
Following an isolated Puritan family in 1630s New England who begin to turn on one another when their newborn son vanishes. The family grow paranoid and accuse their daughter suspecting witchcraft is to blame.
The screening is put on by DIY community cinema project Whatever Pays the Rent as part of their Cursed! season exploring women on the edge of the horror genre. All the screenings come with a free zine exploring the topic.
