We’ve had rather a magical month here at the museum and we’re still sweeping up glitter. Here’s why… on Saturday 22nd June we welcomed real life unicorns to the museum for our Magical Rainbow Unicorn Party which turned out to be one of the most exciting events we’ve put on. It was a brilliant day (we even had sunshine) and we loved welcoming lots of old and new visitors to the site. As well as having lots of fun with sparkles and glitter, June turned out to be a very busy month for the team. Daniel the Museum’s Manager attended meetings for Heritage Open Day and Birmingham’s Heritage Forum, he was also lucky enough to receive training on how to look after the wood in our collection.
Taking care of our collection is a vital part of all of our roles and we always check on the condition of the items. Sadly the Breton Chest in our Solar needed some extreme TLC and luckily Stuart Brown was able to fix the chest earlier this month and it is now back on display for visitors to enjoy.
As always we have been extremely busy with school tours, our normal day to day jobs and we’ve hosted 3 children’s birthday parties on top of all this!
The biggest thing to have happened this month though has got to be the Bournville Village Trust Annual Quiz night. One Friday evening, the Selly Manor Team (plus family and friends) went head to head with other colleagues in the famous quiz. We are delighted to announce that we won the quiz and became the champions for 2019.
June has been an absolute blast and we want to thank everyone for making it so special. Next month will see the start of the school holidays and yet more events- we just can’t wait!!!
Enjoy the sunshine and pop in and see us when you get a chance as we’re now open 7 days a week 10am-5pm.
