It’s been a busy month for us here at Selly Manor and we’ve packed our working day with all sorts. Our Museum Manager started the month off with a meeting for the Bournville Christmas Festival- after all it’s never too early to start thinking about the festive season!
We hosted three children’s birthday parties, two princess parties and one themed around some well known wizards and witches, then we had a baby shower followed by a wedding. As a team we always look forward to working these days as it’s such a pleasure to be chosen as a venue for such special occasions.
Most of April has been focused on getting ready for our Easter events and what great events they’ve been. Ark Farm visited us again and helped to kick off the Easter holidays with our Down on the Farm day. One of the highlights from this was meeting Dash the donkey and seeing Frazzle the piglet misbehave. The Selly Manor Family Fun Easter Egg Hunt saw us welcome hundreds of families to the museum and we had a great time meeting you all and giving out tonnes of Crème Eggs.
As always we were fully booked with school tours and even had a visit from the Hillmorton Women’s Institute. After a busy spring term of teaching children all about The Tudors and The Great Fire of London, the Selly Manor Team were excited to get stuck into our Easter events but are now refreshed and ready to take on another term.
April has been a fantastic month for us and we’ve really enjoyed the vast variety of things we’ve been doing but saying that, there’s no rest for the wicked…join us next month to see what May has instore for us.
We know it will be packed with schools, tours, events and general museum duties but they’ll be some surprises in there too no doubt.
