A letter from George Cadbury
This letter was written by George Cadbury to his son Laurence in January 1911, when Laurence was aged 21. This letter is one of hundreds from around 1906 - 1915, all of which were kept by Laurence. At a time before email and text messages nearly daily letters between family members were the norm.
George Cadbury's tone is warm and the letter demonstrates his affection towards his now grown up son as he nears the end of his life at University. It is a personal snapshot into the life of such a well known family. You can read the letter in full below.
These letters are part of the Sir Adrian Cadbury Archive and are currently being catalogued by University of Birmingham student Branwen Onono, who is on placement at Selly Manor Museum.
