As part of this year's Bournville Christmas Tree lights switch on, Selly Manor is joining in with the first ever Bournville Christmas Festival.
Activities are focused around the village green. There is lots going on with craft making at Bournville Community Hub, a Christmas market at St Francis Church, street food, shops selling festive gifts, a grotto, the Carillon playing festive favourites and much more.
At Selly Manor Museum, the house will be lit by atmospheric candlelight and the talented historic re-enactors Gloriana will bring it all to life. Hear Tales from the Underworld and discover how thieves and tricsters preyed upon the good folk of Elizabethan England (performances at 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm). And enjoy the sound of some unusual instruments which will be played informally during the afternoon, including a portative organ and a Hurdy Gurdy!
Plus, we'll be making lanterns (please bring a glass jar) for use in the Father Christmas led lantern procession which takes place at 5.30pm and culminates in the Christmas Tree lights switch on at 6pm.
